AGES 8+ | SATURDAYs, SUNDAYs, Mondays & WEDNESDAYs

Ability:
Every competitive ski racing program is built on the same proven coaching staff, training systems, and Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday schedule. As athletes progress from Foundation Pursuit to Core to Elite, they simply spend more days on snow each week.
COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS
STAGE 4 - You are here
Train & Compete
Foundation, Core, and Elite Pursuit Series pathways provide a complete competitive progression for athletes ready to commit to higher levels of training and racing. Athletes continue developing technical skills, race preparation, and competitive performance through a structured season-long multi-day program.
STAGE 3
Add Volume & Build Experience
Getting ready for competitive or Pursuit Series-level training takes more than one day a week. Weekend Performance Academy athletes can add a Wednesday night at Mount Pakenham for extra mileage and gate time — the volume that makes the step up to Pursuit Series and regional competition feel earned, not rushed. In turn, Momentum athletes can also add a weekend training day option on a case by case basis when planned in advanced for the ultimate training season.
STAGE 2
Performance Academy & Momentum
This is where athletes begin structured performance or entry-level ski racing training, depending on the program chosen. Small-group, coach-led programs introduce technical development, brushies, stubbies, and progressive gate training while building the fundamentals needed to ski faster, stronger, and with greater confidence.
STAGE 1
Foundation Skills & Programs
Ottawa Sports and Snowhawks Ottawa lessons help skiers build the essential skiing skills needed to move from beginner to confident novice skiing. Athletes develop balance, gliding, stopping, turning, and early edge control skills while building the foundation for future progression.
The Alpine Development Pathway
Every athlete’s ski racing journey is different. Here’s a guide.
There's no wrong entry point — this is simply how skiers tend to move through our programs as their interest and commitment grow.

RACES & VOLUNTEERS
Ottawa Sports Alpine Club (OSAC) is a proud member club of Alpine Canada Alpin, Alpine Ontario Alpin, and the National Capital Division (NCD) of ski racing. Athletes compete at a level that matches their program, goals, and development pathway. Recreational program athletes typically participate in recreational-level events. Competitive athletes compete throughout the region at the National Capital Division (NCD) and Outaouais Ski Zone (OSZ) levels, racing against other member clubs. The race day fee is the same across the club: $99 + HST per athlete, per race. Midweek Momentum Performance Academy is built to be race-ready with no add-ons required. Athletes can enter recreational-level races directly through the program. Athletes who show a stronger interest in competition, in consultation with their coach, may have opportunities to progress into NCD and OSZ-level events. Weekend Performance Academy athletes become race-eligible by adding a Wednesday Flex night, which provides the additional gate training and race preparation not included in the standard program ($150 discount when paired together). Pursuit Series (competitive) athletes can race as often as they choose. Racing is completely optional, with athletes travelling to events throughout the region alongside a coach and training group. For families with competitive athletes, please see our family volunteer requirements below in our FAQ section.

DELUXE MOTOR COACH

Every Saturday and Sunday during peak season from January 9 to February 28, athletes travel to and from pickup locations across Ottawa aboard our deluxe chartered motor coaches, supervised by caring and responsible parent chaperons. That’s 16 weekend driving days back for mom and dad, while giving athletes access to the best hills near and far. No-bus option discounts are available. Learn more by navigating to More → Transportation in the top menu bar.
SKI CENTRES

Throughout the season, Ottawa Sports Alpine Club athletes train at a variety of ski centres across Eastern Ontario, Gatineau, and the Laurentians. During peak training and race season, our 16 Saturday and Sunday training days are supported by deluxe chartered highway motor coaches from Bell Horizon.
